07:59 AM ET 02.08 | Marcus Lattimore intends to write one of the great comeback stories before he even plays a down in the NFL. [Lattimore] is confident he'll be ready to play NFL football this fall. The former South Carolina star tailback has spent the past two months in Pensacola, Fla., rehabbing his right knee which he shredded on Oct. 27 against Tennessee. ... Yet, with each weight he lifts and every time he jogs in the pool, Lattimore knows he's getting closer to returning to the football field. ... [Lattimore said Dr. James Andrews], part of the team who performed the operation, has told him several times he's going to shock the world with his complete comeback. "That's my goal as long as I stay strong and keep progressing," Lattimore told The Associated Press by phone.

Thanks for all the memories at SC buddy. A true workhorse for my Gamecocks. Jadeveon Clowney is up next to leave us!

Willis McGahee showed that you can come back from that kind of injury. I hope he can and hope he reaches out to somebody who's already been there. Good luck to him!

I would love for the Dolphins to take a shot with this guy with a late round pick. I believe he will shock a lot of people.

If McGahee and Gore could do it then so can this kid.

With the advances in knee surgery over the years I'd say he has a good shot. Some team will take the risk and be glad they did.

I don't doubt his recovery, I just doubt his ability to keep something like this from happening again. It's already been 2x hasn't it? Granted, there have been backs who had multiple knee injuries then somehow stayed healthy (the "Terry" guy who played for Minnesota and Washington comes to mind, forgot his full name, he had 2 ACL's done). It will be interesting to see how it all plays out, I wish him the best.

Before he even thinks about the Fall maybe he should be trying to impress Scouts during the Combine or Pro Days.

I wonder if he is injecting, err, using the same rehab that Peterson did.

His attitude, determination & ability will make him successful. A smart team will take him and be happy down the road, maybe not next season but many seasons after.
