08:00 AM ET 02.08 | Breaking up, as it turns out, may not be all that hard for the Jets to do in the case of Bart Scott. Sources told the Daily News Thursday that Gang Green's plan is to cut the loquacious linebacker, along with Calvin Pace -- another mainstay of the linebacking corps -- and offensive tackle Jason Smith in the coming weeks before free agency begins March 12. The moves would save the Jets $27.7 million in cap space for next season. Scott has been the face and mouth of the Jets defense since 2009, and Gang Green would save $7.2 million if he is released. Pace, a Jet since 2008 and in the final year of his contract, would represent $8.6 million in cap savings, and Smith would save the team $12 million.

Over-rated.

I had to look up loquacious. I wasn't sure if that's why they're cutting him. How about Tebow? He seems kinda loquacious to me, shouldn't they cut him too?

Time to be Scott Free and Pace also!!! They are gone and might be picked up by other clubs at a reduced Salary! There's plenty more where that came from! Keep Going!

Scott never looked quite as good after he left the Ravens. I can't believe he was still making that much money.

Next move non-blocking, catch every other pass, Dustin Keller, the door show him the door, tell him to use the post pattern!!!

He could come back to BMore with less money and resurrect his career.

Judging by the title of this article, I see the FN interns got their hands on a thesaurus.

I'd laugh if the Jets pick up Bradshaw and the Giants pick up Scott or Pace. Reminds me of when two families hold a yard sale together and wind up buying each other's junk.

Why would they cut their most popular player?

Obviously they are prepping themselves for a Super Bowl run. It's all part of the master plan.
