Where did all the Pacers fans go?

08:05 AM ET 02.08 | Atop the Central Division and near the top of the Eastern Conference, the Pacers rank among the NBA's pleasant surprises this season, too. But where are the paying customers? ... Look around Bankers Life Fieldhouse when teams other than Miami, Chicago or the Los Angeles Lakers are in town. There are lots of empty green seats in the building even though the Pacers bring a 15-game home winning streak into Friday's game with Toronto. ... While they have increased attendance by 1,320 fans a game from last season, that's still not enough. "It's very disappointing," Pacers guard and Indianapolis-native George Hill said. "The fans show up when we play the marquee teams, but they show up wearing the marquee team's clothes. We feed off them."

Keep winning, George.

They'll show up.

QUOTE(#7):

You forgot about the fact that we have all the money and can afford to spend it on things other than basic rockbottom requirements such as food, lodging, and utilities. The custodian at my law firm pulls down $65k.

It's called Cost of Living...and it is way higher in NY than in Indianapolis. The price you pay for living in the "Big City".

QUOTE(#12):

They don't. The better teams just draw more fans, true everywhere. I'll bet the fans in Indy also come out when OKC is in town and OKC is hardly a large market team. Hey, will Orlando win another game this year?

OKC has one of the best home courts in the NBA...OKC shows that even a small market team can draw a huge fan base if the product on the floor is good.

QUOTE(#11):

Sad when the large market teams have more fans than the home team. That's the sort of thing that makes players want to leave for large market teams.

Good morning MMA. Hope your headache went away.

We have the same problem in Miami. Marlins, Heat, Dolphins, 'Canes, Panthers.....
