08:06 AM ET 02.08 | After Rajon Rondo went down, Kevin Garnett stepped up to urge his teammates to do the same -- and on Thursday he sprinkled his point with cooking references. [Garnett was asked] whether the Celtics were more comfortable playing this kind of style. "The only way I can really explain it is, when you have a player like Rondo who does so many great things for this team, you kind of get lackadaisical," [Garnett said]. ... "[If] you've got someone cooking for you and you're expecting that every day, and all of the sudden they're not there to do that, it's up to you to feed yourself. All the sudden, you start making these gourmet dishes and there's more people coming over the house. You never knew you possessed that until you lost that person."

Rondo is not a franchise player....

think about what a franchise player does....its not Rondo...and he can get you a lot of good assets back-

heres why i dont think Rondo is a franchise player

* the last 2 minutes of a game- a franchise player needs to be able to close- he cannot be afraid to go to the free throw line- they have to be able to say- give me the ball- im winning this game- Rondo does not have the skill set to do that- guys can overplay his drive since he cant shoot 3s and is jump shot is shaky-

*an extension of above- down 1 pt with 5 seconds left- he CANNOT be the guy taking that shot- hes not in the top 50 NBA players you would have taking that shot

*he cant say- "I am putting the team on my back- get out of my way- im getting 35-40 pts tonight and winning"- thats not his game- Franchise players have to be able to do that

*he is not a leader- he gets suspended multiple times a year for dustups with the ref- he ran ray allen out of town- guys dont exactly love playing with him...

*he makes other players adapt to his game instead of putting them in the best position to take advantage of their skills- such as Terry and LEe

We'll see if they can advance in the playoffs without rondo

If they could have unloaded Rondo for a talented big man before he got hurt, they would be in great shape right now. They will go just as far without him as they would have with him.

So like the grizzlies who got to the playoffs without Gay now traded him(and have just won 1 game since trading him I might add), I guess seeing a the C's now won what 7 in a row without Rondo guess they gonna play Russian Roulette and trade him also right?

Lets see, they beat the Kings, Raptors, Magic, Lakers, Clippers by 2, and Heat by 2, all at Boston except the Raptors. Only the Heat and Clips are above .500. The Clips were without CP3 and the Heat are sleepwalking through the regular season.

I do not buy what the Celtics are doing.

They are hot and their vets are logging serious minutes.

By playoff time, the Celts will be a 7 seed and play the Knicks and probably win the series but then get beat by Indy the series after.

If they fade, they draw Miami, in Miami and will be gone in 5.

If the celtics are stupid enough to trade Rondo however....
Trade 1: Rondo for Mike Conley...
Trade 2: Rondo for Vasquez,Robin Lopez & Aminu...
Trade 3: Rondo for Tyreke Evans,Jason Thompson & Fredette...
