08:07 AM ET 02.08 | Mark Buehrle's dog, Slater, landed in the headlines again this past offseason when Toronto acquired the pitcher. Pit bulls are outlawed throughout the province of Ontario, so the Buehrles had three options: 1) They could live across the U.S. border in Niagara Falls or Buffalo, N.Y., and Mark could commute roughly 90 minutes each way to Toronto; 2) They could leave Slater in someone else's care for the entire season; or 3) Jamie Buehrle could stay behind in St. Louis with the rest of the family while her husband heads north to pitch for the Jays. After lots of internal debate and anguish, the Buehrles chose Option 3, which means Mark will spend his 14th big league season in Canada while Jamie lives more than 800 miles.

Wow, what a huge debacle.

Can't Mitt Romney just smuggle Slater in on the top of his station wagon?

Sounds like Mark is really gonna love Toronto. Good luck Jays.

QUOTE(#4):

The Canadians didn't like Mitt's idea to make their country the 51st US state so we could have all that oil and nickel, so he's not welcome up there.

He didn't seem very welcome in any of his "home" states last november either.

Okay, he won Utah (after denying he lived there for tax purposes, so I don't know if it counts)

He didn't want to go there in the first place.

Yep - punish the breed when it's the owners who are dumb as a box of rocks in handling them... Maybe they should of banned the owners from Onterio instead.....

They outlawed a breed of dog? Seems rather stupid, especially when I think about honw many pit bulls I've seen that are as sweet as puppies. Buehrle did the right thing here.

That's the point. I have seen some studies/surveys were Pits are actually one of the milder breeds (when handled appropriately). Another case where the innocent suffer the idiots...
