08:11 AM ET 02.08 | Ace Felix Hernandez will remain a King in Seattle -- theoretically, anyway, after his reported $175 million deal. Detroit Tigers ace Justin Verlander heard about the report while golfing at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am this afternoon. His reaction? "Holy cow." "I didn't know that. You miss a lot being out on the golf course," Verlander said. When asked if it bodes well for him, he said: "Yeah, I would guess so. We'll see." The new deal "certainly sets a nice bar" for Verlander, who is entering the fourth year of a 5-year, $80-million contract and could be talking extension with the Tigers soon. General manager Dave Dombrowski said in the past that the team wants to make Verlander, the 2011 American League MVP and Cy Young Award winner, a Tiger for life.

I would think his wife, family, agent, bank, never heard from relatives really liked the deal themselves.
Oh yeah, I guess King Felix liked it too.

Just cannot figure out how the guy gets pounded in the post season so much. Makes no sense.

I'm sure his wife will like it most. She'll be getting half of it in divorce court a few months after he signs the deal
