08:16 AM ET 02.08 | A recruiting process that may be remembered more for the ones that got away wasn't about to get Lane Kiffin down earlier this week. With a total of 13 members comprising the group, it's a class low in numbers but rich in talent, with 12 ranking in the ESPN 300 -- almost all of whom will be counted on to make an immediate contribution on the field for the Trojans. "A very exciting day for USC football as we welcome 13 new guys into our program," Kiffin said. "We think that these players can come in right away and help us -- all of them. And probably a couple of them will start. Obviously, we have some holes to fill, but they are impact players and players that could have gone anywhere in the country."

Bill Withers was a Pete Carroll get. Don't know how he feels with the Kiffster at the helm.

Yeah, I think they will carry over until next year!!!

We all know/knew, that it's not going to be easy on USC for the next 2/3 years, the NCAA took care of that, but actually USC signed only 12 recruits and are still listed at having the #13 recruiting class!!! That's really not all that bad. Yes, USC will have depth problems, but we all on FN have commented and have known this for the last two years, so that is nothing new. Like I stated a couple of weeks ago, if USC can finish 8-5 or 9-4 in 2013, they will be very lucky!!!! :-)

Cherry pickin' and early enrollees seems to be the way to go, OT.

Even with all the great players decommitting, per recruit, its about the most impressive class I've ever seen.

And, I might add.......If he's not up to the task, I volunteer to fill her, er I mean... fill in for him!

Tin Man, good morning!!! Yes "Cherry pickin' and early enrollees", are about the only thing that USC can do at the present time!!! :-)

Instead of "Men of Troy" you need "Iron Men" to play both ways at USC, OT. Abolish the platoon system. Go old-school. You'd appreciate that.

Hey, I don't go both ways!!!!!!!! LOL.

Trojans take the field against the Ducks in Iron Men suits - Phil Knight's poring over the drawing board right now to come up with a retaliatory strike.

SG, I agree and if USC only signed 12 this year, then they can sign 17/18 next year. I have to be realistic and hope for at least a 8-5 record this upcoming season.

Oregon will "Duck Poop" all over the Men of Troy this year. It doesn't matter what they wear!!!

You've a mucky mind there, OT. ;)

Yeah, but I do agree with your comment about players playing both offense and defense. Lee can play both and I'm sure that LK has thought of allowing other players to do the same. Side note: Just don't let two players on defense or offense, to wear the same number :-)

20 schollys for next year. I am good with that. The only kid from this class who will probably not have a chance to contribute is Falah. Really hoping Mitchell can find some field time. Future looks bright to me.
