Miami legacy signs with Gators
Matthew Patchan's father, Matt Patchan III, played offensive line for Jimmy Johnson at Miami. Patchan's maternal uncle, Dan Mariscal, played linebacker for the Canes. Why, then, is Patchan -- the continuation of a college football legacy -- enrolled at the University of Florida, preparing for spring football practice with one of Miami's biggest rivals? It's all about the art of persuasion. It begins with establishing relationships and doesn't end until every angle has been exhausted. ''It's sales, plain and simple,'' Matt Patchan said. ``Football coaches have a product and they are trying to sell it.''

I keep hearing about Urban's ethics being questioned concerning his recruiting. Whatever he's doing, wrong or not, it's working. And I'm sure he's not the only one.

One of Miami's biggest rivals?!!! Maybe in the recruiting wars, but they don't even play each other. There may have been a few scattered out of conference games throughout the years, but I would hardly call that a rivalry. I hate to boast about FSU (expecially since we stink lately), but we've been the only school willing to play year in and year out for a true state title (not that we have had a claim to it on recent years).

WHy would anyone choose FLorida over Miami? In nor specific order;
1). better team 2). Better Reputation 3). better chance to win a title 4). better chance to be on TV 5). Better education 6). Coaching Stability 7). Better conference and the list continues
By the way, I don't like Urab Meyer, which is why I left out better coach.

This kid called out Miami during the season, so even if he did commit to the U the upperclassmen would have tortured him.
Wait, UF and Miami are playing each other the next two seasons. This kid better watch his knees.

They are rivals. They play for the Seminole War Canoe. It's only recently they stopped playing each other regularly. However, the two schools are playing the next two season with an eye to making the rivalry yearly again.

The only reason they don't play is the gates never want to give the return game look how long it is between games in the home and home 08 and what 2013 and I'll bet that trip never happens

He's not a cheater. He's the only coach in Fla. with his act together. Bobby Bowden's too old and the kids don't like being portrayed as thugs (Miami) today. He's a family man and a guy with a lot of youthful energy. All the best coaches today have that: Pete carroll, Urban, RR, Les Miles, you name it.

So when will this kid start for the Gstors with all the players they got i would have went to UCF or USF and got me a starting job on a team almost comparable to UF than Miami considering Miami has been on the downslide the last few years kids are jumping ship goin elsewhere to play than play at Miami. And everyone is right abut the so called rivalry which is bogus FSU, UF and Miami need to play each other every dang year but with FIU, FAU, UCF and USF now perrenial players in the state for players UF, FSU, anf Miami aren;t to be honest getting the talent they used to get from instate why would a kid from tampa want to go to UM, FSU, or UF sit for up to 3 years before they start when they can fo to the other schools and stsrt right off make a name for themselves and go to the NFL

cusefan21, you are not seriously comparing UCF and USF to programs like FSU, Miami, and UF. One season doesn't make a program great, especially when you compare teams like that to FSU, Miami and UF which are among some of the BEST programs of the last twenty years. And there is a reason you go to programs like FSU or Miami, and that is to compete among the best and to try to win your conference if not be National Champs. (something USF and UCF haven't done).

And i do agree with Miami and UF not playing every year. But you tell me if you would like to have this UF schedule every year:
Miami
Tennessee
Georgia
LSU
FSU
that would make it five rivals. Which team has on their schedule two non-conference games with the ACC teams?

Good call Juice...I love when Dumb a*# USC fans talk out there butts.
jabril...Have you been watching football the last 10-15 years? Compare UF's SEC and NC titles to miami's titles. And while you are comparing things, how about Florida's schedule (every year) to usc's...wait, I forgot you play ucla, cal, and stanford...my bad!
