02:04 PM ET 02.08 | The Boston Bruins have postponed the start of Saturday's contest against the Tampa Bay Lightning from 1 p.m., ET to 7 p.m., ET due to the threat of inclement weather. Boston is projected to get hit with a potentially "historic" blizzard, which could see up to 24 inches of snow and experience winds exceeding 70 miles per hour. Governor Deval Patrick has already declared a state of emergency and has banned all vehicles from being on the road after 4 p.m., ET on Friday afternoon. He has even lifted all tolls on the Massachusetts turnpike after 2 p.m. to assist in drivers getting home as quickly as possible. The NHL and the Bruins have stated that the are monitoring the situation and will make announcements regarding the game as soon as possible.

The Revenge of Tim Thomas?

February 8, 2013  03:17 PM ET

Gonna be a fustercluck in Boston tomorrow no matter what time they schedule the game. It is supposed to snow until late afternoon and the streets will be a mess, the parking garages will be full of cars that otherwise might have been on the streets and the "T" & buses are likely to be either shutdown or completely fubar.

I understand that there isn't any wiggle room in the schedule and the league as well as the Bruins are over a barrel because of this storm. Ironically the B's have only played once since last Saturday.

Yeah, he bought George Bush's weather/natural disaster machine and Dick Cheney personally delivered it to him.

No. This is just a snow job.

What a bunch of wusses. If Paul Revere had to ride through the snow with that atitude we'd all be speaking the Kings English :-)

just took me about 2.5 hours to get home. I was pretty pissed. Until I heard that all roads into Mass are shut down and there's a not travel advisory. I just feel lucky I wasn't caught in whatever nastiness they got down there.

Travel ban here, 500 dollar fine and a year in the pen if they catch you. *baits trap*

30 mins, tops. It was gridlock and accidents everywhere. I basically crawled home.

Kidding aside I feel for you. I remember my first year driving in that stuff, couldn't afford good tires. They are showing it on TV right now.

Yuck!

It's pretty nasty...power outages everywhere, thunder-snow dumping 2 inches an hour, and winds nearing hurricane force. If TB isn't in town already, there's no way that game gets played. If they are, they'll be playing in front of a near-empty house.

It's like that in many places in northern States and southern Ontario....Boston is going to get the worst of it overnight...they really had no choice but to postpone.
