03:26 PM ET 02.08 | Nebraska and Colorado have agreed to play a four game series in 2018-2019 and 2023-2024. The two schools were rivals in the old Big 8, as well as the Big 12 North. However, the rivalry ended after Nebraska left for the Big Ten prior to the 2011 season, and Colorado went to the Pac-12. The Cornhuskers have fared much better than the Buffs have in their new conferences, making an appearance in the Big Ten title game in their second season. Colorado, meanwhile, has fallen on hard times, and is among the worst programs in the FBS.

Every Big Red fan i know never considered the Buffs a rival, and i know quite a few Huskers.
They certainly dislike the Buffs but they feel that Big Red is far too superior for there to be a rivalry between the two.

LOL, at least Nebraska and Colorado have agreed to leave their state to play each other in an OOC game!!! Now if we can just get Florida to leave their state to play an OOC game, then I would be very happy!!! :-)

They'll look back at this in 100 years and they will remember that this is where it all started.

So this is what passes for a major OOC in the Big 10?

Don't hold your breath on that one-Florida leaving the state to play an OOC game.

Even though it hasn't been a competitive series, it has been a long series. While Colorado has been down for awhile, no one can say with certainty how good or bad their team will be in the future. It is a B1G - PAC 12 match up. Furthermore, the two states share a border, so playing against each other makes sense on many levels. Don't let those facts stop you from making knee-jerk comments.

I agree.
People forget how good Colorado was in the 1990's. They ran a outside zone variant offense similar to what Indianapolis runs with a single back and 2 TE's, and they were hard to stop. They had a strong defense. Their O line was NFL caliber. Andre Gurode was a beast who ate DL's for breakfast.

Dr, I agree!!! Some Fans aren't old enough (or have a memory loss), to remember how good Colorado (and Nebraska), was back in the 90's!!!! :-)

85-player scholarship limitations implemented in 1994 hurt some programs, and Nebraska and Colorado soon began to decline. Teams located in large population states seem to be the ones benefiting now, with the notable exceptions being Alabama and OU.
Now that calling recruits repeatedly and texting them repeatedly and Facebooking them has been made legal, it will be interesting to see who makes a comeback in recruiting. Some of the programs trying to play by the rules got left behind. The rules have now been changed to match the cheating. Sales of burner phones in the south just took a nosedive - you can do it from a university phone now.

Also remember Colorado and Nebraska suffered financially under the old Big12 TV contract structure. Revenue was distributed based on TV appearances for football and basketball, and when your program(s) declined you didn't appear on TV as much. TV exposue was already limited thanks to provisions that protected Fox's entertainment shows in football viewing time windows. This has since been changed with ESPN now in the driver's seat but the damage was already done at Colorado and Nebraska.

If I held my breath "waiting for Florida to leave the state to play an OOC game", I would have been dead in 1991!!! :-)

17 year olds have the attention span of a fly and the maturity to match, so it's easy to recruit them based on superfluous crap ... much harder to get them to places like Lincoln where nothing seems to be going on.
I would absolutely love to live in Colorado but I'm sure it has little appeal to a kid from the deep south who has never seen snow or the inside of a textbook.

Yeah, I love Colorado, but I could never get the wife to go there to live. I also like Pullman Washington, but damn do you think that Leach can get very many good recruits to go there?? That is why I respected Mike Price so much, when he was the coach at WSU, he actually did a damn good job while he was there!!!
