03:27 PM ET 02.08 | Washington Capitals general manager George McPhee met with the assembled Washignton media on Friday afternoon to address the state of the franchise. Given the club's league-worst point total, the focus wasn't entirely positive but focused on the future and had an optimistic outlook. When discussing a potential moves he might make, McPhee stated that he had no intention to blow the club up. Explaining that the NHL lockout certainly altered the approach the team took to preparing for this season, McPhee said the organization has no intention of utilizing short-term thinking. This is the first season with Adam Oates as the team's head coach. As of Friday afternoon, the team has a 2-8-1 record.

Actually it wouldn't hurt to start with McPhee down and retool this team. I remember him in 24/7 standing in the glass case of emotion in the elevator.
Blaming the lockout huh? Because the other 29 teams didn't have the same preperation?

McPhee is a failure. Let the coach who took the team deeper in the playoffs than they deserved go, didn't supplement the development of AO8 by building around him, and now their goaltending situation is blowing up in his face.
