05:25 PM ET 02.08 | The Carolina Panthers have reached an agreement with the Charlotte City Council for $250 million in upgrades to Bank of America Stadium that will ensure that the team stays in the city for the next 15 years, city officials told WSOC-TV on Friday. The proposal agreement comes shortly after it was first reported that team owner Jerry Richardson and city council were to meet on Friday to discuss the potential upgrades. According to WSOC-TV, the city has agreed to pay $143.75 million for the upgrades, while the team will contribute $96.25 million over the next 15 years. The final hurdle before the proposal is officially approved is that the city and team will request the state of North Carolina to pay $62.5 million.

"...$250 million in upgrades to Bank of America Stadium that will ensure that the team stays in the city for the next 15 years..."

And perhaps some upgrades to the team that will ensure anyone in the city cares.

Throwing good money after bad. Jacksonville fans don't really care if they have a team or not. Why spend the money, spend the money to move the team where they really want one.

The Jags avg attendance for the season was higher than 15 other NFL teams. I'd say that's a pretty damn good turnout for a 2 win team.

Are these upgrades going for the suites and high end ticket holders or will they be for the person that sits out in the elements screaming for their team when they're down by 2 td's late in the game?
