09:34 AM ET 02.09 | The Atlanta Hawks are entertaining trade offers around the league for forward Josh Smith, but have yet to decide whether they will deal the ninth-year forward, according to league sources. The Hawks met with Smith's representatives this week and reiterated -- as they initially offered at the beginning of the season -- that they would be willing to give Smith a three-year deal for around $47 million, according to sources. This is the maximum of what they can currently offer under the new rules of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Smith turned down the offer, however, saying he preferred to play out his existing contract and get a longer deal this summer.

The waited for way too long; Now desperation kicking in, all the makings of a bad trade.

He met with management and management said they won't offer him a max contract, Smith said he is prepared to move on, so you damn right you trade him. Hawks won't win with him any way so get something back in return.
A 3 team trade should do the trick:
Hawks,Raptors,Jazz....
Hawks receive: Paul Millsap,Kleiza/Raptors recieve: Josh Smith,Ivan Johnson/Jazz receive: Bargnani & Korver

I don't think they have to trade him. If nobody makes an appealing offer then the worst that can happen is that he leaves. They will then have the cap space back. He wants a longer contract so all he can get without the Hawks involved is 4 years. With a sign and trade he can get 5 years so odds are that he will keep them in the loop. The Hawks can get a traded player exception and with their cap space they could make an offer to Dwight Howard and CP3 both.

Both L.A. teams don't need J.Smith. The Clippers already have Griffin, and the Lakers is not going to trade Howard for Smith

Hawks am hearing want a good center for Smith, I guess the raps won't be in the J Smooth race.
I guess the raps could trade Andrea for Millsap...

This three team trade doesn't work for any of the teams involved. Jefferson and Horford play alike, as well as Milsap and Bargnani and Smith and Rudy Gay play alike. The Hawks may have waited way too late to trade a disgruntled player who has made his frustrations with the organization known many times. They may have to take the L and hope that he keeps them in the loop this off season.

Yup.
I did the trade before hearing that the hawks want a center in return.
Then I said the raps may as well offer Andrea for Millsap.

Howard had just 7 shots. Kobe had 8 assists.IT'S STILL KOBE'S FAULT!!!!Smh

They won ... no reason to find fault.

Kobe went back for 1 game to be a facilitator (better than the 0 assists last game) ... we'll see if it lasts this time.

I'd like to see the Hawks trade Josh to Dallas for Chris Kamen and OJ Mayo. Takes care of two issues for the Hawks and gives Dallas so new life and someone to play along side Dirk. Plus, he'd put some people in seats for the Mavs. Mavs may have to throw in in a pick for Atlanta to take the deal since Kamen's contract is 1 yr for 8 mil.
