11:42 AM ET 02.09 | Rajon Rondo's agent says his client isn't listening to the wayward words of those who believe the Celtics will actually be a better team in the long run without their All-Star point guard. But the representative knows what's being discussed by some of the team's followers, and he dismissed such talk decisively yesterday. "I don't really have a reaction to that," said Bill Duffy. "But if those people think they can win a championship without him, I think that's shortsighted. "I mean, this is the regular season. This guy's a playoffs superstar. So I think you can take a lot of what happens in the regular season with a grain of salt."

Last time I checked, the season was a touch longer then a 5 game win streak.

"...think that's shortsighted...", pretty much sums it.

It is possible for Rondo to be a great point guard and ALSO for the team to play better without him. As a great PG Rondo may create a lot of shots for others. But, this may lead them to stand around while he dribbles around creating. Now that he is gone, they may be moving more, thus playing with more energy, and thus more successful.

When he comes back next year, he'd need to change his game a little to mesh with what they have learned how to do together in his absence. But Rondo is such a knucklehead, good look trying to make that happen. I foresee a trade of Rondo by the Feb 2014 deadline.

Shortsighted and misguided.

I thought Allen went to Miami because they have better Salsa Dancing.

Rondo makes things easier. The Celts are winning but having to exert more energy without Rondo on the floor. I don't see my Celts having the legs to make it past the 1st round of the playoffs.

Rondo sure comes across as an angry dude... In fact that whole team seems pissed off all the time... It must be the cold...

agents......pfffftwhat a human with a sense of integrity should've said is"Rondo is a great player and its great to see his teammates stepping up in his absence"But he's an agent, so he's nothing more than gum stuck to the bottom of your shoe

That was my first thought. It appears as if Rondo's agent is openly rooting against the Celts. No class.

Without Rondo in the line up. Scouts and coaches will start seeing how the Celtics are playing and find ways to exploit Rondo's replacement. Teams are already watching game footage and seeing what's going on and what to look for.

I'm not a Rondo fan. But it's a joke to think that the Celtics are better off without Rondo. They got a small bounce after losing him for the season. Lets see how high the Celtics go and how low they can go without Rondo.
