Scott Boras' idea for helping clients avoid PEDS

09:20 AM ET 02.10 | Kudos to agent Scott Boras for saying he will open a private fitness clinic in South Florida for his clients who are based there, most of whom are Latin Americans. Boras has represented many players with links to PEDs -- which agent hasn't? -- but is sincere in encouraging players to avoid that temptation, which he long has stated works against superstars because it shortens their careers.

QUOTE(#1):

PEDS has advanced the career of Boras tremendously and has made him extremely wealthy. Boras owes a long standing debt to the use of PEDS. Now he tries to steer players in another direction? Please.

Exactly. Want to see him do the biggest dance of his life, make a rule that says once an agent has represented a player or players that test positive for PEDS, then they are no longer certified to represent a player in MLB contract negotiations.

Tie this nonsense to agents and see where it goes.

Mark my words, there's an angle somewhere for him. The next thing he does for anyone but himself will be the FIRST THING he's EVER done for anyone but himself.

Yep... It's another reason for him to convince a team to bid against themselves for a player.

Playing devils advocate here but the last time I looked this is a Capitalistic system we live in so why can't he get the largest pie he can for his cients and in turn a slice of that pie for himself?

It is his job, no?

In open, competitive, free markets, products are sold at a price that reflects their value. In the case of Scott Borass clients, something goes very wrong.

Buyer beware.

I don't believe Boras has an altrusitic bone in his body. My first thought was that he wants to take control of the off season conditioning to ensure that his clients don't get caught.

He is a shrewd dude.

February 10, 2013  05:02 PM ET

i won't be surprised IF boras gets a 50% pay cut from those especial vitamins store do you??

The owners knew, the media knew, the fans knew, and no one cared. All of a sudden it's an issue. Just like with politics, people are stupid and follow like sheep

unfortunately yes.

Someone mentioned that Boras has a degree in pharmacology. Draw whatever conclusion you want. At a minimum, it's an interesting coincidence.
