10:29 AM ET 02.10 | If Aaron Rodgers has his way, he would like to play quarterback for the Green Bay Packers through at least the 2020 season, and maybe beyond. "I've had eight great years there, the last five as a starter," Rodgers said of his career in Green Bay. "Hopefully I can give them another eight plus years of playing at a high level." Rodgers' current contract expires following the 2014 season, but he understands there is considerable interest in when he will receive a contract extension.

Play out the contract, then go year to year, why sign a long term deal just to get cut half way through it?

Hey Aaron Buddy, I like you because you're a NorCal Boy and went to Cal. But the sad truth is you may not make it to 2015 unless the Packers give you a better offensive line that can reduce the number of sacks and downfield hits you take every year. When a player makes a statement like Rodgers someone needs to ask him why he wants to stay in Green Bay.

It has to be a little embarrassing to Aaron that there are so many QB's that make much more money and perform at a lower consistent level. Green Bay should be making him one of the top 5 highest paid QB's, without Rodgers Green Bay is a last place team.

Roger Staughback was 35, Jim Plunket, 36, John Elway 37, both Johnny Unitas and John Elway were 38, they were the oldest Quarterbacks to win a Super bowl, do the Math!

So if Rodgers is the Packers play caller through the 2020 season, does that mean that his replacement is currently a freshman on high school?

There it is. If he leads the league in taking sacks too many more times he'll be finished. Green Bay knows it, though. That's not a stupid organization. And I'm sure Rodgers has had plenty to say about it in conversation with his coaches.

HOW INSULTING ARE THE GREEN BAY PACKERS TO AARON RODGERS? First of all he is only making 1 million more than Mark Sanchez. He is down around 13th in QB salaries at $9.2 million. Carson Palmer, Michael Vick, Tony Romo, Philip Rivers, Matt Schaub, Matt Ryan, Sam Bradford, Matt Stafford, and soon Joe "Hail Mary" Flacco will all make more money than he does and Green Bay doesn't even provide him a decent RB or Offensive Line.

You are the most important player on Green Bay and yet they pay Charles Woodson more money.

His current deal doesn't expire until the end of next season? Maybe Packers News should wait another year before they worry about this. It doesn't seem like Rodgers is close to worrying about this yet.

Ted Thompson is a smart guy... he'll take care of Rodgers when the time comes.

* the season after next

Rodgers should have a stipulation in his contract that forces the coaches to teach their DBs how to knock down Hail Mary passes instead of trying to get a pick to pad stats. An o-line might be nice, too. Discount double choke!

Not happening. He is expensive toast. LOL

Ya so more than likely they strike a deal this year instead of letting him go into the last year of his contract when he has a lot more leverage including saying adious
