03:32 PM ET 02.10 | Successful surgery has the Atlanta Hawks feeling optimistic about the recovery and eventual return of guard Lou Williams. The team announced that Williams underwent successful reconstructive surgery on his right knee Thursday following an ACL tear on Jan. 18 in a game against the Brooklyn Nets. The Hawks believe that Williams could have a recovery period that would have him available for training camp -- that would be approximately eight months from now. Williams played in 39 games this season before the injury ended his season. He was averaging 14.1 points and 3.6 assists per game for the Hawks and mostly came off the bench for Larry Drew's team.

It's not strange. Wait time after an injury like this can take up to a month due to swelling or other factors
