08:02 AM ET 02.11 | Well, that was fast. It didn't take long for the first mini-controversy of the Rob Ryan era to begin. On the same day the New Orleans Saints announced that the outspoken Ryan would be their new defensive coordinator, a report surfaced that Ryan's contract states that he would need special permission from the Saints vice president of communication before speaking to the media. But the Saints are denying Ryan's contract contains any such language. ... [After a Twitter report surfaced] that Ryan's contract wouldn't allow him to talk to the media unless it was OK'd by Greg Bensel, the Saints' vice president of communication, Bensel replied with a tweet of his own on Sunday morning denying the accuracy of Fenelon's tweet.

If the Saints put this in his clause, smart of them.

The Saints need some stability back in the program. What should they do? Hire Rob Ryan. Okee dokee.

Cowboys too dumb to release Rob Ryan. The team was riddled with injuries all season long.

Rob Ryan's record as a defensive coach has been mediocre at best. Don't know why people make such a fuss over him.

No argument about the injuries... and I can't say I did not agree with you when it happened.
But the more I watch what has happened with Ryan since he left... the more I am convinced that this decision had to be made.

I don't think there is much fuss over his skill set as a coach. Just the fuss that comes with him and his twin... You know.. Kinda like "class clown" fuss.

I'm getting a little tired of the whole Ryan family. Buddy Ryan was an arse when he coached and his sons didn't fall far from the tree.

Look, the last time anyone on the Saints defense stopped anybody it was to ask for directions. Ryan will make them better and in return you get Ryan.

Buddy Ryan was a decent DC. He happened to be part of 'Da Bears', and their Superbowl Shuffle. When is the NFL gonna wise up and realize that neither Rex, nor Ryan will ever amount to anything. They may be 'characters', in the mold of their father. But, stats don't lie, they've never had success anywhere they've been!

Perception is reality and this guy is a slob and an embarrassment to the league. The first thing I would have put in his contract is a dress code. He's a worse dressed version of Mike Stoops.
