08:04 AM ET 02.11 | For 22-year-old Matt Barkley, the countdown is on. [Barkley] knows his future in football will be shaped from evaluation at the upcoming NFL Combine. "This is probably the biggest test of my life coming up," said Barkley, the heralded Southern California quarterback, who visited Northwest Florida for the first time Friday to receive the Danny Wuerffel Trophy at the 44th All Sports Association Awards. "This is like the SAT (college entrance exam) times thousands," said Barkley, during a reception at the Emerald Grande in Destin prior to the banquet at the Emerald Coast Convention Center. "I hear the whole couple days is a grind. But I am looking forward to that challenge. I am excited about it."

For running backs, you don't want to accept the Curtis Enis Award.

Good kid, had some bad luck with injuries and with an incompetent coaching staff.
Let's hope he can make an impression at the Combine and land with a team that can develop him professionally.

Barkley = low second rounder. Not a franchise QB. He's not mobile and his arm isn't that strong. USC QBs come out coc ky and then c oc k up: Leinart, Sanchez, and the pirate's friend, the inimitable John David Booty: on the road to nowhere or already arrived. Matt, join the parade.

Surprising to think any football player might think the combine could be the biggest test of his life.

Yup. Good year to be a free agent QB in the NFL. Teams will be paying journeyman QBs like star QBs.
