The Yankees' next star in center

08:11 AM ET 02.11 | Mason Williams seems to understand why he didn't get the invite to the Yankees' camp site for spring training. [The] outfielder that some believe is the club's next star center fielder in a few years wasn't one of them. ... Ranked first among Yankee prospects by Baseball America, Williams is coming off surgery to repair a torn labrum on his left (non-throwing) shoulder, which he suffered making a diving catch while playing for High Class A Tampa last season. "Actually, I wasn't even looking forward to going, because I was coming off rehab," Williams said last week after a workout at the Yanks' minor-league complex. "The Yankees are the best at what they do and they're not into rushing anybody. It didn't make sense. I'll be ready for opening day."

This is Hal's grand plan, all those one year contracts now and hoping that Williams, Tyler Austin, Gary Sanchez, Slade Heathcott are ready next year. Or any combination there of. I am good with it.

The kid played A ball last year. He's 2 or 3 years away.

True, but I don't think the Yankees see him as a call up next year or their number one prospect. Others on that list are ahead of him. We shall see.

QUOTE(#7):

why ?The only reason to keep him down is to prevent him from starting his service years. I understand not wanting to bring him up this year, but it seems like all the teams that are succeeding of late have young guys that come up and helpNext year- let the kid fight for a spotkeeping him in the minors- 'just because' - IMO is silly

Well then, since you think its silly the Yanks should just throw away their plans and bring him up asap
