06:32 PM ET 02.11 | The Utah Utes have hired former college and NFL head coach Dennis Erickson as co-offensive coordinator. Erickson will bring his nearly 30 years of head coaching experience and two national titles to the Utes to share the title with 26-year-old Brian Johnson. Erickson will begin his duties Feb. 19. Utah officially announced the move on Monday morning. "Dennis Erickson brings a wealth of knowledge and coaching experience to our program," Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham said in a release. "He has been labeled as one of the original architects of the spread and we are looking forward to the impact he will have on our offense. Coach Erickson also has recruiting connections across the country which should benefit us on that front as well." Erickson's impact is felt around football in a big way. He is a main influence for many of the sports offensive innovators and he will serve the Utes and Johnson well.

Someone help me here. Exactly how many times DOES Dennis Erickson have to prove that he can't coach, before he stops getting offers to do so?

ASU, I wish you well on your future endeavors, because there will be none.

Methinks with Emmert's new rules (10 off-campus recruiters allowed, unlimited number of on-campus recruiters and football personnel) we will see a lot of hiring. Anyone with experience just got more valuable.

Even if your experience is one of cheating, followed by failure?!

I'm just trying to rationalize why they would hire this guy.

Plus ... Emmert changed the rules to match the cheating.

ASU is much better off with Todd Graham at the helm.

"Kyle, I need you to give Dennis a job. Make him a coordinator. I know you've got people on staff. Make him co-something. Dennis and I go way back. Normally, I won't stick my nose in your business, but this time, I need you to do this." - David Pershing

Utes need help. Erickson has plenty of P12 experience. This may work. He's had a decent career, and I wouldn't label him a failure.

AUS just officially hired a head bag-man. Look for recruiting to improve....

Erickson is NOT a HEAD coach but the man has a great offensive mind.

I like the move by Utah.
