Miami hoarding resources for free agent spree

08:03 AM ET 02.12 | This offseason, things have been quiet in Miami. Don't mistake quiet for inactivity. Behind the scenes, the front office has discretely targeted at least two starters -- Brian Hartline and Chris Clemons -- they hope to lock into contract extensions before the NFL's new year begins. ... [The] Dolphins have the [cap space] to bring back whomever they desire. Another possibility: general manager Jeff Ireland could also be hoarding the team's resources so he can make a run at what appears to be a rich free agent class. The top names could include receivers Mike Wallace, Greg Jennings and Dwayne Bowe, tackle Ryan Clady (although Denver is expected to franchise him), defensive end Cliff Avril, and corners Aqib Talib and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

"This offseason, things have been quiet in Miami."
Things were pretty quiet during the regular season, too.

He's going to get big money from some GM who doesn't understand managing his cap space.

RGIII.

I thought of that, too. It makes sense. RG3 is still in a cap-friendly rookie contract. Bowe is 28. Perhaps more important, with a threat like Bowe, defenses would have to cover more and blitz less.

He better not sign with Miami then.

The R doesn't have an everyday rookie contract. His is almost identical to Luck's with them being the top picks. The cap issues lie in God Goodell punishing the Skins for that uncapped year. I think we'll be another $19 million in the hole.

If the writer thinks big money to corners Aqib Talib and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and the dolphins GM thinks that way too, then they are just wheel spinning.
Jeff Ireland is the GM, given his track record, that is a miracle. So, why would anything change for the better?

I agree and him going to Miami wont solve that, lol...
Though, Miami can make some good moves if done correctly.

Tough sledding...
Skins fans are better to worry about his legs vs getting more help.
As a Boys fan and competitor, I hope RGIII stays on the field for good football's sake. But, this being the 2nd blow out of that ACL in 3 years, that is not good...not good at all for his future if they are running the spread-option.

If the Organization wants him to be around for years to come, that option read should be HISTORY. Another poster put it well, "He ran about 50 times too many last season."

There are a bunch of 49er fans that are hoping that the 49ers will sign him. My only reservation about that is Bowes propensity to drop catchable balls. Is the lack of effort do to the team he is on or is this something that comes naturally to him?

Kap would stretch the field with this guy on the roster.

Miami is a lot better than people give them credit. Lost 3 games by 3 points, if Carpenter makes those FGs, they are in the playoffs, they have a legit D, and a QB finally, a few good FA signings and a good draft, this team will contend next year.
