Carimi on thin ice?

08:04 AM ET 02.12 | The NFL season ended with a flurry of coaching changes, a buzz that has given way even in cities where coaches were changed. For those Bears fans wondering why there was a huge introductory party for Marc Trestman on January 17th, and not a peep out of him since, it's because his coaching staff's eyes are bloodshot from breaking down every play of every game last season. ... Trestman's and [Aaron Kromer's] linemen -- whoever they are -- will fit in with the quick drops you'll see more frequently than runs into the center of the line, but must be capable of doing both. Does that include Gabe Carimi somewhere, and how much slack will the final pick of the Angelo regime be given since he truly has just one season of playing time under his belt?

I'll admit it. I had to google him to find out who this guy is.

"Carimi on thin ice" sounds like something on a French menu

Carimi is one of the reasons why Cutler keeps getting hit in the backfield like a crash test dummy.

Woah Carimi got aweful skinny!!

"how much slack will the final pick of the Angelo regime be given...?"

You don't just throw the kid away. He deserves a chance to prove himself under the tutelage a real offensive line coach, something the Bears never had the last few years.

Yeah you tend to get that way when you're constantly chasing d-linemen that get past you.

That's what I seemed to recall...

A lot to pay for what he provided.

Good point, but I would plan for the worst and hope for the best as far as drafting and free agency are concerned. There's always the possibility that Carimi just doesn't have what it takes to make it in the pros. Chicago can't afford to have another year where they don't pay serious attention to the O-line, keeping their fingers crossed that things might finally work themselves out.

A couple of years ago he was considered one of the top players in the draft. I doubt if Chicago would get rid of him so fast.

But, he looks like a wide receiver or a tight end. He's skinny.

WIKI says he weights 317 lbs, doesn't look like it though
