08:16 AM ET 02.12 | Definitions aside, Ryan Madson could have had a better start to the week. Whether it's a "setback" or simply a normal part of the rehab process may be an issue of semantics, but Ryan Madson isn't happy about his throwing program being shut down for 10 days, and counting. "I'm discouraged, because I just wanted to go out there and not have any hangups," Madson said Monday. When the Angels signed Madson to be their closer, they acknowledged there was some risk because he is coming back from Tommy John surgery in April 2012. A normal 12-month rehab process would have put Madson on the bubble for being ready by opening day, and Madson still hopes he can be. "That's my goal," Madson said. "I think there's still a shot."

my guess its,,madson may pitch by the ASG or by mid-september,,, the halos are well aware about TJ surgeries, are very risky and could take at to 24 months at most to be able to pitch again without any setbacks,,,,

the angels are about to face major problems in hanson pitching arm,the MPH in his pitching arm are droping and there is nothing the halos can do about it,,,

if the pitchers do have some luck,,the halos could had have saved the season,,but if hanson arm gets reinjuried, plus the closer madson unable to pitch in the first half or the whole season??this could be a major blow to their bullpen,, a injury-prone players are about to bring some pain to the angels organization,,,

there is a shot but not too sure about that higher opportunity,,in closing games!!

then again its important to be sure the pitcher is more secure in terms of health,, once the pitcher its fully clear to play in the major league things could be more freely in halos bullpen!!

I think the Angels are the best team in the AL. I give them a good chance to win it all.

wiseup:The Reds were wise not to resign Madson. The Angels May regret signing Madson. The Reds had a closer several years ago was a rookie of year. Scott Williamson had two really good seasons as a closer. then he had Tommy John surgery. After a year on the shelf, he was cleared to pitch the following season. He wasn't the same pitcher after that. the next year he tore up the same elbow again. He had second surgery and then retired.
