Hoping to end their string of four games without a win, the Sharks instead dropped a 6-2 decision Monday night to a Columbus Blue Jackets team that is perennially among the Western Conference's bottom-dwellers. Not exactly how San Jose wanted to start its season-long, six-game trip. "It's a pretty simple league -- the team that works the hardest wins," a visibly intense McLellan began. ... Even entering the game with an 0-2-2 record in February, the Sharks could take some comfort in the fact they were competitive in each loss. This one was different, and McLellan had no trouble defining that difference. "Well," he began, "this one [stinks]. It's pretty simple."

It's unfortunate that Kessel the Great's amazing goal-scoring streak ended, and hopefully perennial Vezina candidate and surefire Team Canada starter in Sochi James Reimer isn't down for too long, but man the Leafs are just sexy right now. Killing penalties? WTF? Winning on home ice? Where did THAT come from? 11 goals in 2 games against rivals? I'll take that all day!

The Jackets should've had the same result the night before against the Oilers. They dominated and pushed those smurfs around all over the ice. They just couldn't beat Dubnyk. He robbed them blind!

I dont know what is more shocking to me.

1. How much better they are playing for Carlyle
2. They have players now with skill. This team has been bereft of talent for so long, that skilled players just look, well, out of place.

Loving it though!

Last night was the first time I watched the Leafs this year and I was impressed. They looked pretty good against the Flyers. They were skating well and playing smart.

There was that one moment last night where they showed Burke all suited up watching the game from upon high. His forehead may as well had a rolling banner that said " Oh Sure , the Team i built is winning , and i am out on my truculent ash"
