02:14 PM ET 02.12 | The Miami Dolphins's home turf, Sun Life Stadium, is in need of upgrades, and they may be contingent on whether or not Miami is selected as the host city for Super Bowl 50 in 2016. Miami and Santa Clara, Calif., where the new 49ers' stadium will be located, are the two finalists for the game. Voters will go to the polls and weigh in on whether or not public money will be used to fund the renovation project, which has been estimated to cost $400 million. But even if the measure passes, the Miami-Dade County Commission must approve it, and if Miami isn't awarded the 2016 Super Bowl, that might not happen.

Miami-Dade is one of the few locales that each year hosts a season of NFL games, major college games, and at least one major bowl game. It gets a lot of return on investing in a football stadium. I don't feel real sorry for the tax payers - at least not on this issue.
