Would these men resort to theft and robbery if they were being paid to play?

Robbery and fraud aren't always about the money. Club Fed is full of millionaire embezzlers. I think your question is a non sequitur.

Suspended indefinately? Chances are that "indefinate" term means, until spring practice begins.

Sad and surprising story; Saban is reputed to run a tight ship, and you would think he and his staff would weed out clowns like this from the team.
Makes Tommy Rees' drunk episode with the S. Bend police a couple of years ago look pretty tame.
Unlikely they will ever play CFB again; may even spend some time in the slammer.

These guys are young adults, and young adults screw up regularly. I generally put much blame on coaching staffs if their players get into trouble like this occasionally. Weed them out? One of the players was from where I live, and all indications in high school was he was a stand-up guy.

At least they aren't chess players.

Full? I think that you are definitely putting a bit much on that expression sir. Those kids were certainly idiots but they were obviously not idiots with money filled pockets.

I can't figure out why they thought they would not get caught....for this to work it has to involve a lot of people....strange crime to commit...IMHO

They're not even starters and weren't projected as starters.

I see where Eddie had a gun. Well, at least they didn't need Michael Dyer around to provide one for them.

They'll be gone. They admitted they committed the crimes and they are going to jail, unless a judge is real lenient on them.

Already been discussed. Place on suspension indefinitely so that coach Saban can get back and at least talk to them. They'll not be around and we can get back to talking about how they made room for all our oversignees.

I just re-read the article and I see it did happen on campus at 3:21 AM. Why are these guys running around campus at that time in the morning???
