02:42 PM ET 02.12 | Tuesday was not a good day for the Alabama football program, as four players have been suspended indefinitely after being arrested and charged with second-degree robbery and credit card fraud. Eddie Williams, D.J. Pettway, Tyler Hayes, and Brent Calloway were all arrested on Monday. In addition to the robbery charge, Williams was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun. Calloway was only charged with credit card fraud. All four players are out on bond.

Starting their life after football a little prematurely?

February 12, 2013  03:02 PM ET

Would these men resort to theft and robbery if they were being paid to play?

Your thoughts...

February 12, 2013  03:05 PM ET

Better get them off the team for good or this kind of behavior will spread.

Robbery and fraud aren't always about the money. Club Fed is full of millionaire embezzlers. I think your question is a non sequitur.

Suspended indefinately? Chances are that "indefinate" term means, until spring practice begins.

Not to worry, the NCAA will protect their greatest asset and all will be fine just before the spring game

Sad and surprising story; Saban is reputed to run a tight ship, and you would think he and his staff would weed out clowns like this from the team.
Makes Tommy Rees' drunk episode with the S. Bend police a couple of years ago look pretty tame.
Unlikely they will ever play CFB again; may even spend some time in the slammer.

Where's Joe Kidd. He'll impart the real skinny and perspective.

These guys are young adults, and young adults screw up regularly. I generally put much blame on coaching staffs if their players get into trouble like this occasionally. Weed them out? One of the players was from where I live, and all indications in high school was he was a stand-up guy.

Edit (sorry): These guys are young adults, and young adults screw up regularly. I generally DON'T put much blame on coaching staffs if their players get into trouble like this occasionally. Weed them out? One of the players was from where I live, and all indications in high school was he was a stand-up guy.

At least they aren't chess players.

From 1992 to 2006, Alexander Pichushkin (1974- ) went on a killing spree in Moscow. Pichushkin claimed he killed 63 people (48 confirmed) and his aim was to kill 64 people, one for each square on a chessboard.

Or until the Texas A&M game.

Full? I think that you are definitely putting a bit much on that expression sir. Those kids were certainly idiots but they were obviously not idiots with money filled pockets.

I can't figure out why they thought they would not get caught....for this to work it has to involve a lot of people....strange crime to commit...IMHO

They're not even starters and weren't projected as starters.

I see where Eddie had a gun. Well, at least they didn't need Michael Dyer around to provide one for them.

They'll be gone. They admitted they committed the crimes and they are going to jail, unless a judge is real lenient on them.

Already been discussed. Place on suspension indefinitely so that coach Saban can get back and at least talk to them. They'll not be around and we can get back to talking about how they made room for all our oversignees.

I just re-read the article and I see it did happen on campus at 3:21 AM. Why are these guys running around campus at that time in the morning???

Because at 3:21 pm there might be witnesses. Oh wait...
