03:50 PM ET 02.12 | Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender James Reimer has strained the MCL in his knee, according to an announcement by the Maple Leafs. He is expected to miss a minimum of one week while recovering. The injury was sustained during the second period of Monday night's win over the Philadelphia Flyers. After an extended attack by Philadelphia, Reimer remained on the ice surface and required the aide of the training staff. Upon being examined, the goaltender needed teammate John-Michael Liles to assist him in getting to the team's dressing room. He did not return to the game. With Reimer out, it is expected that the team will turn to Ben Scrivens to act as its No. 1 goaltender.

Another MCL. Sounds like an epidemic. Hope both he and Kiprasoff are back quicker than expected.

No conditioning camp. No preseason games. And, a shortened season jammed packed with games with no time in between to rest will do that to a player. Expect more of the same.

In a regular season, missing one week is not so bad....but in this jammed up season, it seems worse....also this jammed up season also puts him at risk for aggravating his knee further.

we fans are getting our games but these players are being pushed to the max....not enough rest time.

it's too bad the injured players could not sue Bettman for their injuries due to a ridiculous schedule.

Silly moment: I nearly forgot Bettman's real name since he is always referred to by every other name under the sun....LOL

The pace is insane. I get tired just watching! No time to recover from all the beer and pizza from the night before!

I know you're right but I'm hoping things will get better as time goes on. What makes it even more maddening is that all of this could have been avoided had they started working on the CBA prior to a month before it expired. Insane.
