Spurs interested in Josh Smith?

06:09 PM ET 02.12 | While Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith has been on the trade block for a while now, it's a potential suitor that has everyone surprised. The San Antonio Spurs are reportedly interested in acquiring the Hawks' versatile forward, according to Yahoo! Sports, and that can and should raise eyebrows. The Spurs, winning without Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili over the past few weeks, don't appear like they need any major shakeup. After all, one reason San Antonio has been so consistent and so good over the past decade and then some is because the franchise isn't one to have knee-jerk reactions. So would trading for Smith make sense? While it gives the Spurs a talented player to build around when Duncan finally calls it quits, such a deal would likely require giving up another key piece to San Antonio's future in Kawhi Leonard.

What's the big deal with Kawhi Leonard? I still don't get why he is so important.

Atl really wants splitter so they can move horford to the 4

Smith isn't worth Leonard moving forward, IMO.

If the spurs are interested, they will end up getting the better end if the deal. They have a history of smart transactions. The hawks? Giving joe Johnson an undeserving 6 yr $120m deal? Stupidity at its best.

Watch a Spurs game once in a while, most recently against the Bulls, and you'll then get it.

Leanard needs to stay. i would part with Splitter(although, i like him) for Jsmith.

Yeah, this is just a rumor. Why would the lux-tax concious Spurs take on a max contract in Smith? And why trade Leonard for Smith, where Leonard is really playing great?

Yeah, good point. KL had a fantastic game. Great transition dunk. Bulls were off that night, but KL's performance was still of interest.
