06:19 PM ET 02.12 | It has been an ugly day for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team after it was learned that four players -- running back Brent Calloway, linebacker Tyler Hayes, defensive lineman D.J. Pettway and defensive back Eddie Williams -- were arrested on Monday on a variety of charges that included felony theft and fraud. Earlier this afternoon, Alabama athletic director Mal Moore released a statement expressing his disappointment with the players, however, he did not comment on their future with the team. Now, Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban has issued a statement of his own and announced the players are suspended indefinitely.

Nick thinks these 4 should skip a year.

Heh. They will be fortunate if they don't end up doing time for this.

I'm telling ya there needs to be a junior NFL league. And colleges need to be held accountable for low grad rates. Student athletes deserve better. Lets separate the truly worthy from the unworthy.

Coach Saban would do well in a jr NFL league.

I comment because i care. I am concerned about Alabama's future?
It does not look good, just say'in..

Manti T'eo is the vistim of a hoax (no crime) and makes a mistake by lying about it and he is crucified for weeks by every major network, newspaper and sports writer in the country (and voted number one on the Forbes most hated athletes list). These Alabama "student athletes" assault and rob a couple of defenseless students and it will most likely be "yesterday's news" by the end of the week. Am I missing somethng...?

Yes you are: T'eo achieved celebrity status, therefore tearing him down took on a life of it's owm. These four doofuses are not well known. Their deeds will be used to Alabama in particular and CFB in general, but only the families will care what happens to them and the victims. No Dr. Phil for them! Our society's focus on "celebrity status" has skewed our values.

Oops should have "embarrass" Alabama.

I guess you are right DS. Te'o would be better off being an unknown felon than a naive kid with celebrity status. (BTW, I am not defending how he handled this in any way. I am just surprised at the level of hatred directed at him from so many sources for a bad decision).

Lots of time on their hands at Bammy--- when you don't have to attend classes, you get into alot of trouble--- Ask Nicky-Boy how many are going to graduate this year.... he couldn't care less...

February 13, 2013  07:49 AM ET

Thank god for Bama's rigid akademmik standards.

A classic example of "you reap what you sow". If a school recruits criminals and low-lifes this tends to be the result.

February 13, 2013  08:42 AM ET

Never mind this. What's important is Alabama needs to find 4 replacement players as quickly as possible.

February 13, 2013  08:56 AM ET

I'm sure if you ask a Bammer fan, this is all Auburn's fault.
