08:01 AM ET 02.13 | A different sort of Super Tuesday might be in the NFL's future. As a matter of fact, the league is preparing for just about anything when it comes to Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium, where weather could change just about everything about the game, including the day and time. A TV industry source told the Daily News that the league has discussed the possibility of changing the day of the game if severe weather were to be forecast to hit the New York/New Jersey area on Super Bowl Sunday. According to the source, these contingency plans gained life when NFL commissioner Roger Goodell asked what would happen if weather caused mass complications on the day of the game.

I figured they had all of this solved when they awarded the game.

Congratulation, Mr. Goodell, you are step by step destroying the NFL. Well done.

Didn't we already know what a dumb idea it was to begin with to have the game there???

Of course we did. Now we get to experience it first hand!

Weather and field conditions are part of the game, which is the reason that having a game outdoors in the north brings football back to its roots and will be great for the game.

If they're going to wussify it and pick a nice day, just go back to playing on a carpet in an air-conditioned dome.

No... no... no.

Nothing wrong with that tummy. Nothing at all.

I still find it ironic that they awarded this Super Bowl about two weeks after the league basically told folks in Miami they wouldn't have a SB down there until the stadium there had canopies over the seating areas because the corporate types masquerading as fans got wet during the SB.

It seems that what Goodall is doing is using the dangling carrot of a Super Bowl to help owners push for new stadiums, since the "LA market is open" schtick isn't working anymore.

Tuesday is my hockey night. Nobody comes to watch us play. Believe me, Tuesday is a dead night for sports fans.

Kate,

Please forgive me. I haven't had my coffee, yet.

I love you.

Why in GODS good name would want to play the super bowl in new york.

If you can play playoff games in January in Green Bay to get to the superbowl, then it is ok to play this game outside. How can playoff games in cold weather outside stadiums be acceptable and this game not acceptable?
