08:17 AM ET 02.13 | Columbus hasn't yet permanently filled its captaincy since the departure of Rick Nash, and, in this shortened season, may not at any point this season. But if and when they do, consider center Brandon Dubinsky a likely -- and worthy -- candidate. Until [Monday] night, Dubinsky had done everything but score for the Blue Jackets. But that changed 43 seconds into a 6-2 win over the San Jose Sharks in Nationwide Arena when Dubinsky buried the rebound of a shot by Matt Calvert. ... Dubinsky set an early tone, taking four shots and winning six of nine faceoffs. He later assisted a goal by Nikita Nikitin and finished with a plus-2 rating. It was his first multipoint game with the Blue Jackets. "He's trying to lead the team," coach Todd Richards said.

Dubinsky had done everything but score for the Blue Jackets -- is the Blue Jackets PR department now working for the Dispatch?

Dubinsky shouldn't even be in Columbus.

Seriously, why in the glorious faulk did ownership let Howson make that deal if it was 100% certain he was going to be let go? Awful, awful deal.

Better question is "who cares?"

Another franchise at the front of the contraction line

You're likely right, but contraction seems to be almost as bad as a 4 letter word at the NHL head office.

But there is no contraction line

Columbus already had a Finnish guy lined up. Columbus is going to try Aquavit rather than "All of the brown liquors".
