03:35 PM ET 02.13 | Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matt Frattin was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday morning due to an issue with one of his knees. Frattin required major reconstruction on his knee after suffering an injury during the American Hockey League's playoffs last spring. While the injury was believed to be taken care of, it appears complications have arisen, which will require Frattin to have the area fixed. He is expected to undergo surgery on Thursday. Head coach Randy Carlyle stated that it was optional course of action, but the organization didn't want to risk hurting Frattin in the long-term by not taking care of it now. He is currently second on the Maple Leafs in goals scored this season.
