03:52 PM ET 02.13 | Detroit Red Wings forward Johan Franzen will not be playing in the team's game against the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday night. Franzen's hip flexor has been acting up and will force him to miss the contest, according to general manager Ken Holland. With Franzen listed as day-to-day, Patrick Eaves will take over his spot in the lineup. Eaves has been a healthy scratch the last four games. Franzen is expected to be reevaluated on Thursday, as the injury has bothered him for a few days. Holland explained that it has progressively gotten worse. In 12 games this season, Franzen has accumulated nine points in 12 games.

I wonder if the reason he's nicknamed "The Mule" has anything to do with this? Like when people get sore backs from carrying big guts.

I was hoping to hear Darren Helm's name get dropped here. Nothing against Eaves, but the Wings could really use Helm's skills on the forecheck and PK tonight.
