03:57 PM ET 02.13 | The Colorado Avalanche have had a run of terrible luck this season. With key players such as Steve Downie and Gabriel Landeskog already out of the lineup due to injury, the club can add defenseman Erik Johnson to the list, as well. On Wednesday, it was announced that Johnson has been placed on the injured list with a head injury. He will be out indefinitely. Johnson will not be traveling with the team to Minnesota where they are scheduled to play the Wild on Thursday night. The 24-year-old defenseman has been averaging over 21 minutes of ice time per night this season.

The lock out repercussions just keep on rolling out.......expect more of these injuries, with the hectic schedule and too many games each week........Colorado won't be able to recover from their 4-7 showing now.

It said head injury so I'm assuming he was trying to do a crossword puzzle.

I had the same thought when I read this. With every year that passes, EJ looks less and less worthy of the #1 pick. The trade to get Shattenkirk and Stewart looks better and better too.

That trade never made any sense to me at the time. Big win for the Blues...
Stewart can be a 30 goal man and Shattenkirk eats up at least 20 minutes of ice time per game.

Well, if they were smart they woulda taken the best player in the game who later went 5th overall.

Not sure I can agree with that.....but Toews or Backstrom would have been a much better #1 pick.....

You mean I'm not the only one who doesn't think Kessel is the best player in the league?
