07:55 AM ET 02.14 | With Carson Palmer earning a lot of money as an established starter, the Raiders are stepping delicately around the subject of young Terrelle Pryor. "I like the ceiling of Terrelle Pryor and where we think he can get to, but his skill set is completely different than Carson's, so we go forward with the idea (of) we know what Carson Palmer is," [new Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olson] said. "He's played in the league a number of years. We know what he can do. We don't really know quite yet what Terrelle Pryor can do at this level but we have a good feel for what he is athletically, so there will be packages for both of them to allow them to compete and we'll just be ready in either direction." ... So no, the Raiders' QB job is not "open," per se.

Raiders should look to trade Pryor to the Eagles for draft choice(say 3rd round) - would fit Kelly's model quite well. Then use that to work a trade with 49ers for Smith.

Palmer might make it as a parking-lot attendant in Oakland, but that's as far as he's going.

Oakland was my #1 team for Alex Smith to go to in 2011 before Harbaugh talked him into staying. That ridiculous trade for Palmer screwed any chance of Smith going to the Raiders in 2012, the team had to much invested in Palmer. So now for the 3rd time maybe Oakland will wise up and grab Smith.
Oakland was my #2 team for Smith to go too, Buffalo being the # 1 choice. But I figured Oakland was to ashamed and to heavily invested with all the draft picks and money they had thrown down the drain for Palmer and Pryor. The 49ers could give up Smith to the Raiders for Oaklands #1 pick in 2013 or 2014, I'd even give them some of the 49ers other 2013 draft picks along with Smith to get the overall #3 pick in 2013. Who knows if some of the 49er free agents see Smith going to Oakland they will follow him across the Bay. Oakland is a team in total disrepair, they need lots of picks to fill lots of holes.

When Palmer walked out on Cincinnati that should have been a red flag for any team that Palmer did not wish to play football anymore. Remember him saying" I have $60 million in the bank and never have to work again in my life so why would I want to stay in Cincinnati ? ". Hue Jackson made one of the worst trades in the history of the NFL for a washed up QB with no heart left for the game of football, and that is why Jackson will never be a GM or Head Coach ever again in the NFL.
Palmer decided to come to Oakland and go through the motions of playing only because his buddy Hue Jackson was the HC / Offensive Coordinator, and self appointed GM. Now that Jackson is gone there is no reason for Palmer to play. 2013 will be Palmers last year in the NFL and he will spend it holding a clipboard.

They're desperately trying to figure out some way Carson Palmer can help the Raiders win, but the answer is obvious. Send him to Kansas City. Two guaranteed wins per season for the Raiders.
