08:01 AM ET 02.14 | A bitter story continues to sour in Los Angeles. Mike Piazza has not set foot in Dodger Stadium since his retirement. When the Dodgers offered to honor him with a bobblehead night last season, Piazza declined. "He doesn't want to come back because he thinks the fans will boo," former Dodgers Manager Tom Lasorda, the godfather to Piazza's brother, told The Times last month. Piazza did himself no favors on that score in his new book, "Long Shot." In the book, he blames iconic Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully for turning fans against him during the contract stalemate that preceded his trade to the Florida Marlins in 1998. ... Scully flatly denied he maligned Piazza. "That's not true at all," Scully told The Times [Wednesday].

Sometimes the smartest thing to say, is to say nothing at all, What did he accomplish by saying that?

What does that mean? Gotta admit, never saw that word before.

Drug use would be the only reason Piazza could use to justify bad-mouthing Vin Scully.

We'll see when book sales are finalized. It's shameful what people put to paper in order sell their "biography." It's bad enough writing that kind of drivel, but I wonder what kind of person buys it.

At least Mike never called him 'Vince'.

You got it right. Blaming Scully when hes the one who held out

February 14, 2013  12:14 PM ET

Wow....I find it very unlikely that Vin Scully ran Piazza out of LA. More than likely Vin may have discussed or mentioned the facts of the negotiating process and people make up their own minds.

Wow read the whole article and he he sounds like such a dick

You pick a fight with Scully and you will lose Dodger nation.

I read Piazza as "pizza" in the headline and thought maybe Pizza the Hutt was involved.
