08:09 AM ET 02.14 | What would Woody Hayes have thought of the honor in Columbus? Steven Hayes has an idea what his father would say about the 8-foot bronze statue placed in front of Ohio State's Woody Hayes Athletic Center on Wednesday afternoon. "'Ahh, why do you need all that stuff,'" Steven Hayes said, falling into an impression of father. "That would have been him. I like it. It's great. They captured his intensity, too. Other sculptures I've seen, they didn't. They were good, but this is the whole package. I really like it. I'm happy." Sculptor Alan Cottrill of Zanesville was on hand as Hayes was moved from the truck that towed him on a flatbed trailer to his final resting spot on a pedestal that read "Woody Hayes."

To paraphrase a tweet from yesterday...

If it doesn't have the a movable arm swinging an uppercut, what's the point.

Since when do we honor coaches who are forced to resign?

I see your point and its a great one. But, you are talking about THEE Ohio State who has honored TWO coaches who left in disgrace. The Hayes statue and the Tressell wall of something

Interesting - at least OSU didn't try to hide the stupidity when these things happened. Did they - they dismissed the coachs - plain and simple. Doesn't degrade the contributions they made to the university while coaching there. Does it. Really? ALL coaches have their issues. (not sure about John Wooden though).....

He was a great coach, but I can't see putting a statue up for any coach that is forced out.

Its the one thing PSU did right.
