03:45 PM ET 02.14 | Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson will miss the remainder of the 2013 season due to a lacerated Achilles Tendon, according to general manager Bryan Murray on Thursday afternoon. The injury was sustained during the second period of Wednesday night's contest against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Forward Matt Cooke engaged Karlsson will chasing a puck in the corner and his skate cut into Karlsson directly above the boot of his skate. Murray expressed his displeasure with the incident and pointed out Cooke's checkered past. The general manager also stated that the club will not be making any rash trades to bring in a player to help the team's injury depleted roster.

Little late there, FN. We have been discussing. I truly feel bad for Karlsson. However, I have made my opinion known as to whether or not I feel it was intentional.

I didn't see the incident but, when it involves Matt Cook, I don't want to. My first reaction tends to be: "I'm sure he's guilty of something."

I was watching the game when it happened. I have no doubt it was not intentional. The NHL should just give him 30 games for being Matt Cooke.

Agreed. Leniency is indicated in this case. The 30 games should be without pay of course.
