04:02 PM ET 02.14 | In an upcoming feature in the print edition of The Hockey News Magazine, Winnipeg jets forward Evander Kane states that negative perceptions about him are generated because of the color of his skin. Explaining that he doesn't feel like a victim, Kane believes that his actions are largely misconstrued because he is black. Kane has been a lightning rod for criticism since the franchise relocated to Winnipeg. Whether it pertains to restaurant disputes or unfavorable interactions with coaches, Kanes name prominently appears in stories about descension. The most recent incident focused on a picture taken of Kane with stacks of money being placed against his head like a phone. The complete article will be featured in the March edition of The Hockey News.

Agree. As is Mr. Ward in Washington. And I have very fond memories of Bill Riley and Reggie Savage too. Especially miss Bill, a blue collar hard-working guy who always gave 110%.

The only race the NHL cares about is who gets to the puck first.

Wait a minute. He's black? I thought he was an Italian with a great tan.

February 14, 2013  06:35 PM ET

Playing the race card when there's no need to..you only pull that card out if there is obvious reasons to do so.....but no one cares about color you are in hockey..the only question is if the guy can make plays...THATS IT........it just seems like rambling from him...drawing needless attention to himself.....almost do_che-like.

Kane should quit the racebaiting and make himself useful. Cooke needs another right cross across the face.
