07:30 PM ET 02.14 | The big wait in Chicago surrounds the return of Derrick Rose and when exactly the former NBA MVP will hit the hardwood again. But while fans have been spoon-fed false return dates, Rose himself is now squashing the hope that he'll for sure return in 2013, saying he's open to missing the rest of the season if he's not feeling right. "I really don't know," he said. "I'm feeling good, but like I said, if it's where it's taking me a long time and I'm still not feeling right, I don't mind missing this year." Rose spoke to USA Today on Monday, which was the first real time he's ever spoken to the media regarding his return. Up to this point, any questions about Rose's return were forwarded to the front office and either thrown away or given the timetable of "soon." But Rose has twice in one week come out and said he's not feeling 100 percent at the moment and is less than positive he's going to return in 2013.

QUOTE(#5):

And then there is Adrian Peterson who was out about what 6-8 months and won the NFL MVP award. After what some said was a career ending knee injury. Either, Rose's was more severe or Rose is being too careful. My guess is the latter.

AD is the exception, not the rule..typically it should take about 10-12 months. Not to mention as a basketball player he jumps more than a RB. Not to say the pressure on the ligament is any less, but he needs a vertical explosion to the knee as opposed to lateral. It was probably more realistic to say April would be his return date. But we'll see..

If Rose doesn't come back, it won't be because he ain't able......the rumblings is that his major sponsors want him to delay his comeback......

Just shows the extent that 'outside' money plays into the decision making of these top players.

"LCTF is a true American moron..." (sung to the tune of that old Budweiser "True American Hero" jingle)

I was wondering .. did he think Rose is on the Knicks. Otherwise why the stupidly negative stuff regarding his recovery. But then I thought oh wait, he's just stupidly negative. Sometimes he loses focus and drifts off his Knick troll goal.

Damn shame, top 3 point guard in the league. I hope he makes it back, the Bulls need him, and so does the NBA.
