Falcons stadium push not about making Atlanta better

08:03 AM ET 02.15 | Owners who don't have a new stadium, such as Arthur Blank, tend to want one. So let him build it. Anywhere he wants. Despite the well-orchestrated sound bites coming out of the mouths of Blank, his people and whatever power brokers are lining up behind him, this issue is not about beautifying downtown Atlanta. This isn't about enhancing our lives. ... It's not going to hold works of art or house the homeless or baffle historians like Stonehenge. It's just a football stadium. This is about increasing the value of a football team and the coffers of its owner, not making Atlanta a better place to live. The Georgia Dome is fine. It's better than fine. And in the worst-case scenario of the Falcons moving to the suburbs, the Georgia Dome isn't going away.

The Superdome in New Orleans housed the homeless after Hurricane Katrina, right?
And why does a team with so much talent and a dozen playoff appearances end every season with a loss? Stonehenge? Don't talk about ....Stonehenge. Stonehenge? The Druids are an open book compared to the Riddle of the Falcons.

Here's a handy tip for teams wanting their cities to cough up millions of dollars for a new stadium: don't blow a huge lead at home in the playoffs.

Stonehenge predicts the year the Falcons will win the Super Bowl. They just haven't figured out which year it is, yet.

Ya don't share revenue from luxury boxes and corporate seating. And all that free PSL money. New stadiums are smaller than the old ones, but oh that special seating is bigger....

Why is that? It's not that old, and has had several updates. Is it because of it's seating capacity?

The true beauty of being wealthy is having the poor pay for your toys. Whatever percentage of public funds is used, the same percentage of seats should be made available for free. That's only fair no?

Look, Arthur Blank started and owns Home Depot, he should be able to build a new stadium himself just from his shelf stock. Jeesh.

But, a new stadium isn't going to help the taxi drivers, restaurants and bars. In fact, if the ticket prices are substantially higher, fans will have less money to spend outside the stadium, so it might even hurt local businesses.
