No. 1 still in play for Noel

08:06 AM ET 02.15 | Nerlens Noel's college career may have come to an end earlier this week. It would be surprising to just about everyone -- including the guy who shared a bedroom with him through childhood -- if [Noel] returned to Kentucky next season. "I'd be surprised if he comes back," Rodman Noel told me from his apartment in Raleigh on Wednesday afternoon. "Right now people still say he'll be a top-five pick. It would only be smart to take it while you can." Rodman, a starting linebacker at NC State, said that his brother was clearly dejected. ... Noel's draft stock, according to 10 NBA executives I communicated with in the last 48 hours, may drop a spot or two -- but he won't fall out of the top five and could still be taken with the No. 1 overall pick.

Just shows how weak this draft class is

Why would you take a guy that averages only 10 pts a game, coming off MAJOR surgery (as a big man.........

Look at Anthony Davis who was a better prospect....and is basically mediocre.......

1. Noel is still 18 years old and still as incredible upside.

2. Anthony Davis is having a better rookie season as a 19 year-old than Kevin Garnett had.....as a matter of fact.....Garnett was a 21 year-old, 3rd year player before he had a season as productive as Davis' rookie season has been so far. So Davis is HARDLY mediocre......

Sometimes.....I think you're totally lacking in......perspective.

Exactly. Amazes me how the dopes on ESPN can still say the players just keep getting better. They keep getting worse.

........if you want to sherry pick stats sot suit your point....I'm inbut KG wasn't the NUMBER ONE pick- so bring me a valid comparison next time

1. Not every Draft as an immediate inpact player.
..
2. Duncan was drafted by a team that was already strong with D.Robinson returning from an injury.
..
3. The comparison to Garnett wasn't based off a player who was drafted # 1....or #10....or #50. It was done to compare Davis to a player that has/had a skill set most similar to his own. So I believe my comparison was VERY valid.
..
4. Not to mention that fact that there have only been maybe 2 or 3 teenagers to EVER come out of the draft to make an immediate impact.
..
5. I'm sorry for disagreeing with you. I should've realized how badly your little feelings would be hurt.......

So who do you pick with the #1 this year that is going to have a Duncan-type impact on your team? (You're the Bobcats)

This tells you the state of the draft. I think you take the best player available for what you think you need. You are taking the guy most likely to give you something 2-3 years down the line. Bobcats most likely need a center and a PF before anything else. SF they are set with Kidd-Gilchrist. There is not a lights out SG worth going for at the #1 pick. I think Orlando would go after a SG or PG. If you can move down in the draft this is the year but teams will not get much for moving up this is not a top heavy draft. The draft is a crapshoot some years better than next.
