08:11 AM ET 02.15 | Carl Crawford understands he has more to rehab this season than his surgically repaired elbow. One of only a handful of position players to already report to camp, Crawford is slowly rebuilding his psyche, which he said was battered in what he described as a "toxic" environment in Boston. Reflecting on his two miserable seasons with the Red Sox, Crawford said, "I knew with the struggles I was having, it would never get better for me. I just didn't see a light at the end of the tunnel. It puts you in kind of a depression stage. You just don't see a way out." ... "I'm in a place now where I feel a lot better about myself," he said. "I just feel like the player I once was." Can he be that player again? Crawford nodded.

The contract ain't his fault. Blame the guy who offered it to him. He just signed his name and said "Thank you very much."

I was relieved that the Sox signed him instead of the Yankees. At least for the money he got.
I do have to admit at one point I had envisoned him in the pinstripes but not at the price he eventually cost.

Still it was us who had to suffer through two years -- ad nauseum. Why should we feel sorry him? He got his check every month.

Yup...That was Theo for you. Once he gets a stiffy for a guy, he'd offer the world to get him. Renteria anyone?

No doubt.
Just shut up Carl, the two miserable seasons you spent in Boston were your own fault. You're mentally weak and the pressure of playing in front of fans who actually know the game and care enough to show up was too much for your feeble brain.

He had to put up with Red Sox fans so yes, I do feel sorry for him for that.

I think the wrist and elbow that both needed surgery had more to do with his performance than the obnoxious fans that formed the home crowd.

Two seasons on the payroll, only 161 games played. Great work if you can get it.
