Spring limits for Rangers closer

08:13 AM ET 02.15 | With age comes some spring privileges. Over the first two days of camp, all but one of the 31 healthy pitchers threw "live" batting practice. The one exception was closer RHP Joe Nathan, who is the oldest player in camp at the age of 38. Manager Ron Washington stressed that there was no issue with Nathan's health, but that due to an extra-long training camp the club wanted to go slowly. He said Nathan will be about a week behind the other pitchers. "At the age he is, we just want to make sure that any bullets we use down here are necessary," Washington said. Nathan had 37 saves in 40 attempts and a 2.80 ERA in 2012, but did tire down the stretch. He suffered a pair of blown saves in September and posted a 4.15 ERA for the month.
