08:17 AM ET 02.15 | Kevin Youkilis' trademark honesty appears to be in midseason form. Asked whether it felt strange to be on the other side of baseball's most famous rivalry, Youkilis made it clear on Valentine's Day that Boston still held a special place in his heart. "To negate all the years I played for the Boston Red Sox and all the tradition, you look at all the stuff I have piled up at my house, to say I'd just throw it out the window, that's not true," Youkilis said. "I'll always be a Red Sock." And Youkilis' love for Boston goes beyond the diamond. His wife, Julie, is the sister of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, and that, combined with his ties to two World Series teams, earns him a spot among Boston's sports royalty.

He can still help the Red Sox, if he wants to.

He won't be a White Sox, that for sure. That guy sucked big time.

Whatever made him feel better I guess. At least he didn't injure himself like Carlos Quentin did by breaking his wrist on his bat.

I wish he had chosen his words a bit better so the press didn't have their sound bite but he is right. You spend eight years with a team, win a championship or two and are an integral part of that winning then how do you forget, or dismiss, that history just becasue you are with another team?
Unless he goes on to do unforseeen heroics with the Yankees (which I personally don't see but can hope for) I would expect the highlights of his MLB career would be as a Red Sox.

They gave him number 36, even though 20 is available.

I really don't mind that Youk said this - if it was not during Spring Training. He could have waited until the end of the year to profess his undying love for the Sox.
