08:19 AM ET 02.15 | On Friday, LSU welcomes Cam Cameron officially, and perhaps Tigers fans should, too. [LSU] is certainly bringing in an accomplished mind to Baton Rouge. And this is great news for Zach Mettenberger and the Tigers' offense. Because of his work at Indiana, we know what Cameron can get out of players that weren't highly regarded prospects coming out of high school. But at the NFL level, he also greatly succeeded with dropback pro-style passers, which fits Mettenberger's style. Because tight ends are a vital part of Cameron's offense, Mettenberger will be able to better utilize his safety options on shorter routes while also hitting them down the seams. ... Cameron also likes to employ his tailbacks and fullbacks as pass-catchers out of the backfield.

I like the hire of Cam Cameron, I think he will really help LSU's offense!!

Zach can't take off, he needs to clear it with his probation officer first.

Yeah I like it too. The 2nd TE could open up some things but you have to have guys that can play that position, not converted WRs. It looks great at the NFL level but finding good HS TE's that can block and catch passes down the seams is difficult.

I like the 2 TE utilization in the read option scheme where they "pull" and blow up DLs from the back side. Not sure if Cameron runs this but it worked for A&M vs. 'Bama.

Good comment!!! Yes it is very hard to find, "good HS TE's that can block and catch passes down the seams"!!!

They would find some of them if they looked on the HS basketball teams instead of the football teams. That's where they are.

Mettenberger cleared for takeoff

If he flies like he throws, he will fly into the side of a mountain. He did airmail quite a few passes last season. First order of business, practice on accuracy. One thing in his defense, he was running for his life a few times. Maybe this season the OL can be a bit more stable. Injuries to key starters and a lot of playing out of position led to some tough times for the qb. I hope Les will let Cam do his job.

Also having a full time OL coach should help. Trying to be an OC and OL coach at the same time leads to a putrid offense. Exhibit A-LSU's offense in 2012.
