Jagr worth deal in Dallas, but not re-signing

08:28 AM ET 02.15 | Would the Stars be interested in re-signing Jaromir Jagr? I personally wonder if Jagr would sign at this point, and I also wonder if the Stars would commit to that. He has been great so far, and his influence in the room is worth the $4.55 million contract alone. He is detailed, engaged, experienced, smart ... really just a joy to be around. But I think he also wants to be on a team that can win in the playoffs, and I'm not sure this is that team yet. This is a transition season for the Stars, and GM Joe and the powers that be would like the playoffs to be a part of the process in transitioning forward. While guys like Brenden Dillon and Cody Eakin need that experience to be better in the future, guys like Jamie Benn and Kari Lehtonen need it too.

Perhaps when he matures around his 60th birthday he'll find some team lucky enough to bask in his presence. I don't know how he can live on $4.55 million.

Jagr is loyal to Jagr. Live it up for when he is there, and then say good-bye.

This season was always about getting the kids ready for the future. Jags & Whitney have been wonderful with that.

A quick check of the standing shows Dallas currently in the last playoff spot in the West. So why worry about next year! Win more now and move up in the standings!

That was when he was a just a kid and didn't know any better. At some point in his run with Pittsburgh he started believing all the hype that was written about him and he hasn't been the same since.

Remember when some (not all Phantom) Flyer fans thought he wanted to play only for the Flyers so he took less money.

Agreed. And I have always praised his talent and what he contributed here. I have always said that, but that doesn't change that now Jagr is LOYAL TO JAGR.
