Richards deep in Rangers' doghouse

08:32 AM ET 02.15 | At one point, Brad Richards was considered a key to a Rangers Cup run -- on Thursday, he was a liability. Of all the concerns about the Rangers, among them their inability to find the defensive lockdown game that identified the club last season, the most disturbing is the diminished play of [Richards], who had such a difficult time last night he was benched for all but one shift in the third period of the Blueshirts' 4-3 shootout loss at the Garden to the Islanders. ... The bottom fell out on Richards during a stretch early in the second period when the Rangers had a power play of 3:27 that included 33 seconds of five-on-three. That's when Richards repeatedly turned over the puck, allowing the Islanders to seize momentum.

Richards looked slow out there. I saw him get beat to the puck a few times last night. Always nice to stop a losing streak against the Rags.

Most boring hockey game i've ever watched (for what I was up for).
Of course, Randy/God showed his fury in a VERY public way as a warning to his minions that repeat performances like that will NOT be tolerated.

Blessed be his holy name. The Caps are certainly believers. (reluctantly).

Haven't been watching the Rangers, or keeping up with them closely. Has he been consistently bad, or just this one game?

Why did you get rid of the Leafs logo since it did as you desired?

Because he's secretly a Leaf fan. It all makes sense now.

The Leafs lost last night huh? Is the sky falling in Toronto this morning, or are people now re-focused on the Jays? ;)

Consistently bad for a team that quoted "Stanley Cup or bust" prior to the season.

last couple actually. And before everyone starts on the anti-Torts stuff, et me say at least that I appreciate that as he will bench Boyle or Hagelin, he will also bench Gaby or richards. It's a team, and no one is better than anyone else. I liked the move, even though they lost

That was Willie O'ree that I switched to because of yesterday's Evander Kane thread.

Boyle looked like he really responded last night to the benching. He was up and down the ice and playing with a purpose. Would have been a rough night for the Isles had the whole Rags team played like Boyle.

I feel like we can make this into a game show. Let's play "who is next in Torts dog house"
With your host, Larry Brooks.

If the Leafs have lost the majority of their games scheduled between now and the end of February, it'll be Jays time. This is probably the weakest stretch of their schedule, with Ottawa twice, Florida, Montreal, Buffalo and Philly with a probably loss to Tampa in there somewhere.
But boy, watching highlights, they need a goalie not named Scrivens. He just ain't ready for this.
