03:50 PM ET 02.15 | After seven seasons and 100 games, Charles Woodson's illustrious career with the Green Bay Packers appears to be coming to an end. The Packers will release the veteran safety, his agent Carl Poston confirmed to the Journal Sentinel Friday. This was one area in which Packers general manager Ted Thompson can save plenty of money under the salary cap. Turning 37 years old in October, Woodson has suffered two broken collarbones the last three years. And entering his 16th NFL season, he was due a base salary of $6.5 million with a roster bonus of $2.5 million the first day of training camp. Poston said his client was not necessarily surprised by the Packers' decision. "I don't think so," Poston said. "People have been talking about it. I think it was just a business deal." By the sounds of it, the Packers and Woodson did not seriously discuss a restructured contract. When asked if a pay cut was a possibility with Woodson, Poston said that "I think we're just going in different directions."
